She holds a Justice Studies degree from the Arizona State University School of Social Transformation and studied at the Walter Cronkite School of Mass Communications. Over the years, Teresa has worked with and volunteered for several human services nonprofits, with a keen personal focus on developing community through creativity and neighborly care. Currently, she is the Director of Development and Marketing at the Arizona Food Bank Network and has been a board member and band manager at Girls Rock! Phoenix since 2019.

TY SEIBEL

Ty Seibel (she/her) joined the board in September 2022 after witnessing her daughter's growth as a camper almost every summer since the inaugural camp in 2016. Having been raised by a low-income single working mother – and then becoming one herself – Ty deeply appreciates the sliding scale fee structure that ensures all children can access the empowering experiences and safe, joyful environment of Girls Rock! camp. While Ty is an unapologetic music nerd, she has never picked up an instrument. Thanks, in part, to Girls Rock!, her daughter plays several.

Ty works as Associate Director of Student Success Communications at Arizona State University, where she leads strategic communication initiatives that champion access, inclusion, and lifelong learning by removing barriers that keep students from achieving their goals. Her five-year tenure on ASU's Commission on the Status of Women underscores her commitment to creating inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive. Outside her professional commitments, she remains engaged in community education initiatives, and founded and ran the Phoenix chapter of Nerd Nite — an international speaker series — for more than a decade.

MARILYN TORRES-SIERRA

Marilyn Torres-Sierra (she/her) is currently a tenured faculty member and the assistant program director of nursing at Phoenix College. She is also a traditional ordained storyteller, a dancer with Kawambe Omowale African Drum and Dance Theater, and a licensed massage therapist. Her connection to music and dance began as a child dancing with her mother performing Bomba and Plena - the traditional dances of Puerto Rico. She has been a super fan of Girls Rock since her daughter first attended in 2017 driving her to become a volunteer right away. Her experience as an artist, healer and educator coupled with her speciality as an obstetrical and pediatric nurse aligned perfectly with the mission and goal of Girls Rock! Phoenix. The inclusive, safe space for gender expansive kids coupled with the celebration of Women taking up space aligned perfectly with Marilyn’s life work in service to women and children resulting in her becoming a board member in the fall of 2022.

Amy Young (she/her) has been involved with Girls Rock! Phoenix since 2015.
